Along with the introduction of the new club committee quickly follows a restructure of the cricket following the return of Jonny Allen as Director of Cricket.

Tom Garner retains his position as 1st XI Captain and joining him as his vice will be Chris Whitworth returning for his fourth season as club professional.

Other major changes being the appointment of a 1st XI Match Day Manager being former Captain Ryan Jessey. Ryan has a long association with the club from as young as an eight year old colt rising through to 1st XI Captaincy before injury forced an early retirement. Needless to say, he will be keeping a close look at our youngsters as well to progress this summer.

The biggest news is the engagement of an Australian all-rounder, Dave Walters who was recommended to the club by former overseas pro Jason McNally. Dave will be around the club almost 24/7 to encourage our youngsters and team up with resident youth coach Ben Yeats with the reintroduction of the EPP coaching policy.

Director of Cricket Jonny Allen said “with an abundance of emerging young talent interacting with senior players plus the arrival of our Aussie colleague bodes well for this summer. And we haven’t stopped recruiting yet more new news to follow in the next few weeks’

Also good news for the clubs young 5th XI, the club is getting closer for a new ground for their home cricket this summer.

Cricket is not a just a summer game, since early January, the club has been training hard at HECC (an outstanding indoor cricket centre near Sawbridgeworth) and will continue until early April.
