Salim Akbar appointed Lead Coach for Senior Cricket

Your Committee are pleased to announce the appointment of Salim Akbar as our lead coach for senior cricket for the 2024 season.

Salim has a history of both playing at a good level and has a wide experience of coaching with the Sharks Academy, and at Matching Green. He has helped Matching Green achieve numerous trophies over the last couple of years in their campaigns in the HEBL League.

Salim is looking forward to working alongside Tom Garner in the 1st XI's push for promotion into the 1st XI Division Two of the Hamro Foundation League. Salim is also keen to be working alongside our other captains and members of the club to improve their games in their respective teams.

Salim is currently running a coaching session on Wednesday evenings between 9-10pm at HECC, along with Burhan Mahmood a level 2 coach. We are currently getting less numbers than we like, so there are a few spaces available. If anyone would like more information, please contact either Tom Garner on 07887 977612 or Jack Sykes on 07858 716933 if you are interested in attending. The cost is £10 per week.

This is in addition to the whole club coaching evening Paul Fisk is running on Tuesday evenings at Leventhorpe between 8-10pm, also at a cost of £10 per week. For a more relaxed sessions where you might fancy giving that reverse scoop or lofted cover drive a go, come along and test yourself!

Ben Yeats is running the colts training on a Wednesday evening at HECC between 5-7pm with a group of support coaches who have over the last couple of years completed coaching courses paid for by the club. There are spaces available for all age groups at £10 per week. Please contact Ally Jessey on 07423 574341 for more information.

We would like to thank Luke Heskett for all his hard work and commitment to the club over the last few years. With an increasing workload at Herts Cricket, these commitments come first. We wish Luke all the best with his ever growing roles at Hertfordshire Cricket.
