Friends of Harlow CC

FRIENDS OF HARLOW CRICKET CLUB

The Club has plans to completely rebuild its Clubhouse which is obviously a major undertaking and restricts the Club as to how much money it has to spend on its ‘ordinary’ projects it has to run.

In order to help the Club raise essential funds whilst the main thrust of the Club’s fundraising is directed at the new Clubhouse project, a group of people decided to set up a ‘Friends of’ organisation separate from the Cricket Club to support the work that the Club does especially with its Young People and in the wider Community.

Therefore in 2010 the Friends of Harlow Cricket Club was established as a separate organisation with its own constitution, Trustees, bank account and logo.

An application to be regarded as a charity for tax purposes was made to HMRC and this status was granted in December 2010

Within the ‘Friends’ Constitution are the principles that charge the ‘Friends’ to:

Promote community participation in a healthy recreation in particular by the provision of facilities of playing cricket
Provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals within the region of Harlow and the surrounding areas with the object of improving their conditions of life
To advance in life and help young people through:
1.The provision of recreational activities provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to improve their conditions of life.
2.Provide support and activities which develop skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals.

Trustees are re-elected every year at the ‘Friends’ AGM

The Friends intend to hold fund-raising events throughout the year and explore other avenues of funding which would enable it to support the Cricket Club.

Anyone who wishes to become a ‘friend’ and help out in any way that they feel that they can are more than welcome and should contact the people listed at the bottom of the page.

Friends of Harlow Cricket Club Bursary Scheme

It is the Club’s fervent wish that no young person is excluded from taking part in any of the Club’s activities on grounds of affordability.

To that end the Friends of Harlow CC has established a small fund of money whereby it can make available to a young person, who has real financial need, a bursary to fund at least part of the cost of an activity that will be of benefit to that young person.

All that is asked is that people do not abuse the scheme as the fund is only small.

If payment in full is a problem then we would ask you to talk with either Paul Baxter (Trustee) or Christine Baxter (Trustee), to initially discuss making arrangements to make payments over a period of time but if there is still a problem then to apply for a bursary towards at least a part of the costs.

Details of anybody applying for such a bursary will be kept in the strictest of confidence.

Anyone wishing to donate to the Fund should also contact either Paul or Christine.
