Sawbridgeworth CC won the first running of what could be an annual event such was the enthusiasm and general good will that was felt throughout the day.
We started early with two semi finals; Sawbridgeworth were pitted against hosts Harlow and Harlow Town played Dunmow. Harlow Town prevailed against Dunmow who seemed to forget how to bat when chasing a modest 75 were all out for 40.
A tighter encounter saw Harlow just miss out to Sawbridgeworth who chased down Harlow's 124 with 8 balls to spare.
In the Final Sawbridgeworth batted first and posted a tidy 125 that Harlow Town chased very well only to fall 17 runs short.
The 3rd/4th place playoff was a much closer affair where Harlow set Dunmow 124. The chase ebbed and flowed until it came down to the last over with 4 needed and one wicket left. Dunmow fell just short thanks to a tight last over, Harlow running out winners by just 2 runs.
A fantastic day of cricket kindly sponsored by Harlow District Council in celebration of Harlow is 70.
